So you guys know me and my love for historical mysteries featuring women detectives, right? By all means, I should have loved this book.
FUCKING NO. I'M AT 25% AND ALL I FEEL IS ANGER.
Setting: United States, Denver/New York - 1885. There is no fucking pretense to historical accuracy in this book. 5 seconds of Googling makes me a better researcher than the author.
Seriously, skyscrapers in New York---in 1885? How about fucking no.
The term "heartburn?" How about no.
The heroine is a sanctimonious prissy little passive-aggressive bitch. I wanted a vengeance story, because her sister was murdered. I love a good sibling vengeance story. The heroine in this book is a fucking bitch. She doesn't love her sister. She hated her and secretly slut-shames her for her beauty.
Oh, and her sister is SOOOOOOOOOOOO beautiful. She flaunts her beauty.
THEREFORE SHE DESERVES IT.
SAY NO TO VICTIM BLAMING.
Walk, don't run.
I still have 75% to go. From what I read from other reviews, the MC is TSTL. So far, I haven't gotten into that part yet.
Pray for me ;_;
